The age cutoff is your child’s age as of May 1, 2015. Skill assessments, as with all practices, will take place at the baseball fields behind Cox Mill elementary school.

For Spring only, boys ages 9 and up will play games county-wide as part of our co-sponsorship agreement with Cabarrus County. This is mandated by the county to ensure a competitive level of play amongst associations. This will provide an opportunity for Odell players to travel within the county and represent Odell Rec to neighboring associations. The 7/8 age group may play in-house (Odell Rec only) or may play county-wide also; the county will make this determination by March 16.

All teams will be required to work in the concession stand at least once during the season, although it may be more depending on number of teams in all sports. The profits from the concession sales go back to Odell Rec, and by using volunteers we are able to keep all proceeds. The penalty for a team that does not have any volunteers during their shift is a one-game suspension for the coach. Odell Rec is run entirely by volunteers, so please consider volunteering your time when possible.

Assessment date Saturday, March 21. The time for each age group will be determined once registration closes. ALL players will need to be at assessment whether they played in the Spring or Fall, or are moving up in age groups.

Teams will be drafted immediately following assessments. Every player will be put on a team regardless of skill.

There are no assessments for tee ball (ages 5-6).

If you intend to coach or assist, please email baseball@odellsports.com with “Odell Spring Baseball 2015” in the subject line. Please provide your name, phone number, email address, age group(s), whether you want to be a head coach or assist, and who you are coaching with. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will be able to coach a team. After registration is complete, we will determine how many teams are needed at each age group. History has told us that every year we don’t have enough coaches, so please volunteer to help coach.
